Janyth Keevey Obituary

AUSTINTOWN - Janyth P. Keevey, 81, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening, April 11, 2024, at Hospice House.

Janyth was born November 11, 1942, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Albert and Genevieve Myers Paul and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1960 graduate of Chaney High School and subsequently attended Youngstown State University where she earned an associate’s degree in business.

Janyth's professional journey was marked by a profound commitment to education. For 32 years, she served as a paraprofessional in the Austintown Local School System, touching the lives of countless students and colleagues with her warmth, dedication, and passion for learning. Even after her retirement in 2017, Janyth continued to share her expertise, returning to work part-time, a testament to her enduring love for education and her desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

She was a faithful member of St. Brendan Church for many years and a member of the Rosary Club. Janyth found solace, spiritual fulfillment, and a sense of community within her faith.

During the summers, Janyth could be found traversing the streets of the Westside and wandering through the serene beauty of Mill Creek Park, logging countless miles with each step. These leisurely walks were not just about exercise but also about soaking in the tranquility of nature and the simple pleasures of life.

An avid reader and card player, she relished in the camaraderie of her card club, where laughter and friendly competition filled the room. Her love for cats was evident to all who knew her, as she showered her feline companions with affection and care. In her younger days, Jan enjoyed visiting Geneva-on-the-Lake with friends.

Janyth also enjoyed traveling to Southern Florida to visit family. Above all, Janyth treasured moments spent with her family and friends, cherishing each gathering, conversation, and shared memory.

Jan is survived by her daughter, Amy Jane (Andrew) Russ of Pickerington; her son, Aaron (Amy) Keevey of Boca Raton, FL; her granddaughter, Ava Lynn Keevey and many extended family members and friends.

Janyth leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
